Tasty rhubarb pie,
I love your tart-sweet goodness.
See my thighs expand.
I'm getting back on the exercise/healthy diet wagon today since I've been totally unsuccessful at dropping those extra pounds so far. None of my summer clothes fit. I have a long way to go, but I'm starting now and not giving up. Wish me luck!

Here fishy, fishy, fishy...
See my cool new koi pond? See it? Over there to the right? If you click on it you can drop food and the fishies will come and eat it! So now I have 2 good ways of managing stress: feeding electronic koi and writing passive-aggressive haiku!
This was my Facebook status yesterday after someone was snappish to me:
Why are you so sour?
Are you sucking on lemons?
I think you're a bitch.
And this is one that I composed on the road today:
Limp-dick cigarette,
vanity plates:MYOFFIS,
You seem like a tool.
Although that guy didn't do anything "toolish". I just composed it after noticing the vanity plates and seeing him with his cigarette dangling almost straight down from his bottom lip. Like a drop of saliva kept the paper stuck to his lip. Bleah!
I had a physics test this morning and it was questionable. I got a lot of C's for the multiple choice section and that made me nervous. Plus there was one problem that I flat out couldn't do, and one short answer that I guessed on. And next week is spring break so I'm going to have to wait a LONG TIME to get the results back. I just want to KNOW so I can put it behind me and move forward. It's the not-knowing that stresses me out.
I think I'll feed my electronic fish now.

Revisiting my blog: a haiku
To have a good blog,
one must share regularly,
and post photographs.
Clearly I've been a bad/absent/boring blogger lately. February is a very busy month at work for me and frankly I just feel like my life is pretty boring. But springtime is coming... it's 40 degrees here today! (And yes, that's warm!)
So right now I'm planning for one of my favorite days of the spring... Walk for Animals Day!
This is Belle, my walking partner and best pal.
On May 2, 2009 I'll be participating in the 35th annual Walk for Animals. This will be my 4th or 5th year and it's one of my favorite causes. I am a volunteer dog-walker/bunny-squeezer/cat-scratching-post at the St. Paul Humane Society and this is another way that I support animals. With five Twin Cities locations, they care for more than 35,000 unwanted, abused and neglected animals each year.
If this is a cause that is close to your heart as well, please consider making a donation by clicking

I'm also dreaming of the end of Physics, the blooming of my tulips, and being outside with Belle. Spring is coming!

Life is full of Dirty Jobs

Over my 2 week Christmas break I caught a few episodes of a Discovery Channel show called Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. For anyone who hasn't seen it, Mike Rowe goes around trying out various "dirty jobs" and providing much hilarity and many dryly witty asides. (And of course it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes in a manly man sort of way.) By the end of each episode Mike is usually coated with some combination of mud, blood, urine, feces, or some other concoction of grossness. And I'm realizing that Vet med could be very similar. And yet I don't mind it. I think I'll be happier to get a little gross in order to help animals than I am to sit in a cubicle all day feeling some combination of boredom and frustration. I'm really getting into the mindset that I AM going to go to vet school in the next few years. It's strange for me because I never allow myself certainty about good things. I always have to tack on the word "if" so that I don't tempt fate to snatch away the carrot right as it comes into reach.
"IF I get into vet school I'll do X."
Well I'm going to apply. And we will see if I get in. But I can say that if I don't get in the first time, I'll apply again the next year. And I'll do what I need to do in order to be prepared.
PS- I've been to the treadmill twice so far this week! Sure, I'm almost at square 1, doing 3 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking for a total of 30 minutes. But I'm doing it. And I'll keep doing it. My friend Jill and I are motivating each other to workout, and I think that will help.
